Reflections of a Mufti

This is --
the abode of action
the abode of remembrance
the abode of being held accountable
the abode of this dunya.

As for the Hereafter --
there is nothing
but reward and
enjoyment.

Unveil yourself!

The nafs cannot be broken so that it should need repair, nor incomplete that it should need anything added. The nafs need only to be unveiled and allowed to glow.

See

We are told to overcome our mundane limitations

--but that doesn’t mean just grasping for improvement in the dark; use An-Noor to see where your going!

A Ring

It's sad,
-- I keep expecting a
ring from the phone
truly, that's what you
get for living for other
people

A ring!? would break
my perfect & ideal illusion
-- my peace and routine
The jihad of a poor poet
which stays out of the
path of shirk & bid'ah
& making a living

Breaking into Jannah

Yahya stood contemplating the congregation that his sheikh had brought together to make salat, offer qunoot, and for study.

The believer was physically upset. The group included small-time scam artists, beardless 'secular' muslims and other charlatans.

The sheikh felt his student's concern, and explained to him:

"We need these people in our masjid. When you need to break open the gates of Jannah, you had better get help from experts!"

Banishing Anger

Anger and coldheartedness arise when a believer's understanding is limited. The deeper one understands the more their anger disappears. Then kindness, love and peace can spread. This is why the study of Islam, which deepens the understanding, brings love and peace into the world and banishes anger.

Break in the clouds

In a moment of fleeting peace
when the heart is opened &
the infinite revealed & the
nafs is left to wander & ponder
the unknown and the unknowable
searching here & there for
wisdom & knowledge.

Not Fanaticism

Don't be a fanatic.

Serving Allah (swt) is not fanaticism. Those who run after the mundane fruits of this dunya are the true fanatics.

The world will consider you a lunatic if you abandon all worldliness in your quest for the heavenly. This is said to be fanaticism. Yet even this is not necessary. You can serve Allah (swt) with restraint.

Declaration

Returning to Allah (swt) is in itself a declaration of iman.

Nobody returns because he is forced to do so. The ability to return comes from you.

And that itself is the proof that you were never truly torn away: The outer body may have been cut off, but the nafs remained at every moment in intimate union with Al-Barr. And from there came the message to return.

A forest of thought

Ya
Allah,

grant me the
ability to be alone

may it be my custom
to go outdoors each day

among the trees and grass and
Your creation

there may I be unattached and enter into Your
Peace

Success in Islam

Success, within the grand scheme of deen, occurs when a nafs that has alienated itself returns to the truth. It is the ultimate demonstration of its profundity and its ardor: No matter how far the nafs may stray from the straight path, in the end it can never tear itself away from Allah (swt).

Picnic

Subhan'Allah

The cool shade
that spreads over us
by these trees
is so pleasant!

We must celebrate
in this place
with words of
the Quran.

Bismillah
